Copper and its alloys, Bronze and Brass, have been used widely by mankind for centuries. Infact there is an entire age dedicated for bronze.
I have read that copper coins have played a decisive role in the battle of Tallikota, where the Vijayanagara kings were rousted. I could not confirm with certainty. Some facts gathered for Copper below.
