Ruins

Why do ruins fascinate me?

Is it because they have stories

Of the days past

Of the glorious days

When they stood testament

To the pomp and power

Of the kings and knights.

Of the strife

The common man entails

That did not change

Through the centuries.

Of the artisans

The skill they had

With the few resources

For being Gods of the creation.

If only we could listen

Through the layers

Of sweat and dust

What tales we would hear.
