Ride of Life

I thought that the ride of life

Would be smooth

If I steered the boat

With the flow.

For the path has been chattered

By many before me.

Little did I know the tricks my mind plays,

The lure of speed

The lure of better shores

The lure of different lives

Made me deviate the path.

I became lonely on this path

With the sun and self.

Then there was turbulence

The boat rocked.

I paddled with all my might

With a prayer on my lips.

Help came as a breeze

Steered me clear

Put me back on track.

I lost time, but gained experience

Varied and Vivid off the beaten track.
